Pregnancy Assistance, Prenatal Program – and a whole lot more II

Suggestions, advice and studies about what’s best for your developing baby can be time consuming and confusing… so we are here to help!   The information herewith is what we believe to be the most informative and interesting reading.

Prenatal stimulation through music heard regularly while in the womb might provide some babies with a sense of confidence and relaxation after they're born. You and your baby also will quickly discover an excellent way to bond and share in the emotional and potential intellectual development benefits this method may bring.

Our pregnancy and childbirth preparation classes are designed to offer couples a well-rounded, accessible curriculum. We have assisted hundreds of of couples through a very wide range of birth choices and experiences. We don’t teach any one method; rather we pull the best parts from the most popular methods, as well as from our extensive experience in the field. There is no one right way to labor. We stand by the philosophy that birth is a normal process and hope to inspire confidence in the couples that we teach. It is our goal to teach the full spectrum of options a woman has when preparing for her birth, and then to support her unconditionally. The most important way to approach your birth is with confidence and relaxation. You achieve this by knowing what possible things to expect, developing the skills to move through your labor, and by feeling prepared to work through whatever your journey turns out to be.

The womb is not a quiet environment. As early as six months in utero, your baby is already accustomed to the sound of his mother’s heartbeat, the rushing of blood through the umbilical cord, and digestive sounds. Although noises from outside the womb—like the voices of his future parents—will be about 10 decibels lower, they’ll be perceived with amazing clarity. From week 25 on, your baby will use sound as his primary connection to the world and his central source of information about what’s going on outside of your womb.

Is it true that there are benefits to having your baby listen to soothing music while in the womb?
Great question! In fact, there has been quite a bit of research showing benefits of playing music for babies while they are in the womb. Some studies have shown that there's a potential for babies to be born with a greater sense of confidence and relaxation after birth if they've had prenatal stimulation.

Pregnant Mothers-to-be have joint pain, anxiety, swollen limbs … you name it, they’re suffering through it. Massages have been proven to alleviate substantial amounts of pain while stimulating the circulatory system and getting more oxygen to your cells (which is especially beneficial if you don’t always get enough exercise). All this equals one relaxed mom, which puts you in a prime state for baby bonding. Massage during pregnancy can decrease the amount of stress hormones (cortisol and norepinephrine) and raise the level of those associated with pleasure (dopamine and serotonin), lessen anxiety, and improve sleep patterns.

If you are planning to become pregnant, there are many things that you can do to help reduce risks to both you and your baby, as proper health before deciding to become pregnant is almost as important as maintaining a healthy body during pregnancy.
